October was the first full month of deliveries for the updated G9 since its launch on September 19, and monthly deliveries were an all-time high for the model.

Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) earlier this month reported deliveries of 20,002 vehicles in October, including 8,741 for the new SUV G6. The electric vehicle (EV) maker didn’t provide deliveries for its other models, but they’re available now.

The G6 was the highest Xpeng model delivered in October, up 7.49 percent from 8,132 units in September.

The model contributed 43.7 percent of Xpeng’s deliveries in October, down from 53.12 percent in September.

Xpeng launched the G6 in China on June 29, with volume deliveries beginning on July 10.

The SUV was seen as crucial to turning around Xpeng’s weak sales at the start of the year, though it suffered from a slow ramp-up in production capacity initially.

Production output of the Xpeng G6 significantly ramped up, making it the best-selling all-electric SUV in the 200,000 yuan ($27,430) to 250,000 yuan price range, the company said on November 1st.

Cumulative deliveries of the G6 since its launch stood at 28,122 units at the end of October.

Xpeng’s flagship SUV, the G9, delivered a record 4,593 units in October, up 637.24 percent year-on-year and 230.43 percent from 1,390 units in September, according to data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA) shared by local automotive media Yiche.

From January to October, 14,607 units of the G9 were delivered.

The G9 was initially launched in China on September 21, 2022, with deliveries starting a month later on October 27. Xpeng had high hopes for it at the time, but sales were weak after an initial increase after launch.

On September 19, Xpeng launched the 2024 G9, with a starting price RMB 46,000 lower than the old model, and began deliveries at the end of September.

On October 7, Xpeng said the new G9 received more than 15,000 firm orders after 15 days on the market.

The Xpeng P7 series delivered 4,250 units in October, up 102.00 percent year-on-year but down 8.92 percent from September.

The sedan series contributed 21.25 percent of Xpeng deliveries in October, down from 30.48 percent in September.

In the January-October period, the P7 series delivered 38,110 units, a decrease of 29.8 percent year-on-year.

Xpeng launched the P7i on March 10 and began deliveries on March 26.

On November 6, Xpeng launched new variants of the P7i with lower-cost lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs, bringing the starting price down by 26,000 yuan.

Xpeng’s cheaper sedan, the P5, delivered 2,055 units in October, up 23.42 percent year-on-year and up 148.79 percent from September.

In the January-October period, P5 deliveries were down 53.33 percent to 15,728 units.

Xpeng launched the 2024 Xpeng P5 on September 25, eliminating the LiDAR option and bringing the number of versions down to just two.

The Xpeng G3 series delivered 363 units in October, down 48.80 percent year-on-year while up 22.64 percent from September.

In the January-October period, the G3 series delivered 4,878 units, a decrease of 67.16 percent year-on-year.

Xpeng to launch new G9 on Sept 19, aims to remake its flagship SUV
