    • To date, Xpeng has filed for EREV variants of four existing models.
    • Xpeng is poised to officially unveil the X9 EREV soon, formally launching its extended-range vehicle super cycle.

Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) has filed for extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants of two additional existing models, as it prepares to officially unveil its first such vehicle soon.

The Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker has filed for extended-range variants of the G6 SUV (sport utility vehicle) and P7+ sedan, following previous filings for the X9 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) and G7 SUV.

These two new variants appear in the latest catalog of models soon to be approved for sale, released today by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) for public comment.

Public feedback can be submitted between October 10 and 15. Inclusion in this catalog represents the final major regulatory step before a vehicle model can be approved for sale in China.

Both the G6 EREV and P7+ EREV each have a dedicated page in the catalog, with product model numbers NHQ6481SHEVFA and NHQ7150SHEVKA respectively.

The G6 EREV measures 4,771 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, and 1,650 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,890 mm.

These dimensions are longer than the G6 battery electric vehicle (BEV), which measures 4,758 mm in length, 1,920 mm in width, and 1,650 mm in height, also with a wheelbase of 2,890 mm.

The variant has a curb weight of 2,175 or 2,190 kilograms and supports a top speed of 202 kilometers per hour.

It features a 1.5 L engine from Harbin Dongan Auto Engine as its range extender, delivering a maximum power output of 110 kW — identical to the X9 EREV and G7 EREV.

It utilizes lithium iron phosphate (LFP) batteries supplied by Eve Energy.

The P7+ EREV measures 5,071 mm in length, 1,937 mm in width, and 1,512 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,000 mm.

The variant shares the same range-extender and battery specifications as the G6 EREV. Its curb weight is 2,160 kg.

At a November 2024 tech day event, Xpeng unveiled its extended-range system named the Kunpeng Super Electric System, claiming vehicles equipped with it would achieve a battery-only range of up to 430 kilometers and combined range of up to 1,400 kilometers.

The company previously indicated that the X9 EREV variant would debut in October, while the G7 EREV variant would be unveiled in the first quarter of next year.

The X9 EREV would offer a CLTC battery range of 450 kilometers, while the G7 EREV variant boasts a battery range exceeding 430 kilometers, Xpeng stated.

Last month, a domestic media report indicated that the extended-range P7+ would be launched next year, equipped with batteries supporting 5C charging rates, with an expected battery range of 400 kilometers.

Xpeng to debut extended-range X9 MPV in Oct, kicking off its EREV lineup

The extended-range X9 will kick off Xpeng’s EREV product cycle, followed by extended-range G7 and G6 SUVs, and the extended-range P7+ sedan.
