Ahead of the 2025 Japan Mobility Show, it seems domestic automakers have agreed not to steal each other’s spotlight during the teaser campaign. On Monday, Toyota previewed an electric Corolla and a Century Coupe. Yesterday, Mazda gave us a glimpse of a swoopy four-door concept. Today, it’s Subaru’s turn to share shadowy images of a pair of STI-branded show cars. We dialed up the brightness to unlock more details. The fully electric Performance-E STI concept leans toward a fastback silhouette, featuring slimmer headlights flanking a narrower hood. Its front bumper has a sharper, more angular design, while the wheels appear…
Ford is cutting prices on the electric pickup by up to $4,000 to offset the loss of the federal EV tax credit. The 2026 Ford F-150 Lightning now offers more driving range at a lower price. 2026 Ford F-150 Lightning prices and range by trim After the Tesla Cybertruck took the title as America’s best-selling electric pickup last year, the Ford F-150 Lightning is back on top in 2025. Ford sold over 10,000 Lightnings in the third quarter, nearly double the roughly 5,400 Tesla Cybertrucks sold. Through September, Ford has sold over 23,000 electric pickups. According to Cox Automotive, Tesla…

Image credit: CnEVPost) Multiple executives from Nio Inc’s (NYSE: NIO) smart driving team have reportedly departed recently as the electric vehicle (EV) maker continues to adjust its organizational structure. Bai Yuli, head of the company’s artificial intelligence (AI) platform, departed just before the recently concluded…
BMW somehow sold a brand-new first-generation i3 EV in the U.S. this year. The car was discontinued stateside in 2021. Most likely, a dealer had the car stashed away somewhere and finally sold it in the third quarter of 2025. The first-generation BMW i3 will always be remembered as a quirky and innovative electric car, but what’s even more interesting is that someone, somewhere in the United States, bought a brand-new one recently. That’s despite the fact that BMW stopped making the U.S.-spec i3 in mid-2021. So, how does a car that was discontinued nearly half a decade ago end…

Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) has filed for extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) variants of two additional existing models, as it prepares to officially unveil its first such vehicle soon. The Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker has filed for extended-range variants of the G6 SUV (sport utility vehicle) and P7+ sedan, following previous filings for the X9 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) and G7 SUV. These two new variants appear in the latest catalog of models…
There doesn’t seem to be a ton of demand for electric supercars, but Ferrari is still forging ahead. The car, which is simply called the Electtrica for now, will make its full debut sometime next year. In the meantime, Ferrari is revealing preliminary specs on this new model—and from a technical perspective, it sounds fascinating. The Electtrica will be a grand tourer in the mould of the old GTC4Lusso, but it will still have a forward driving position and a relatively short wheelbase of 116.5 inches, more like its mid-engine supercar counterparts. Ferrari developed both the 800-volt battery and motors…
Rivian is offering a credit of up to $6,500 when leasing a new R1S or R1T. Not all vehicles are eligible for the discount, though, with the most notable absentee being the quad-motor version of the two EVs. Besides the lease rebate, Rivian is also slashing $2,000 off the price of its All-Terrain package. The $7,500 federal tax credit for new electric cars is dead, but there are still some good deals to be had, as several automakers are coming up with ways to entice potential customers. After Ford, General Motors and Hyundai, it’s Rivian’s turn to come up with…
Swedish electric boat maker Candela has just secured a major deal in Southeast Asia: ten of its P-12 electric hydrofoil ferries will soon operate the route to Koh Kood, one of Thailand’s most pristine and least developed islands. The agreement, signed in Bangkok during the SX Sustainability Expo, pairs Candela with Thai operator Seudamgo by Leopard Transportation Co., Ltd. It marks a significant shift for Koh Kood, where access has long relied on noisy, gas-powered speedboats that pump out emissions, churn up damaging wakes, and clash with the quiet, natural character of the island. Local officials and Swedish representatives, including…
October marks the end of production for the current-generation Boxster and Cayman. What comes after? Well, it’s complicated. Porsche initially announced that the 718 would be available only in electric form, but then it changed its mind. Those EVs are still on the way, but they’ll be joined by combustion-powered versions. Here’s the kicker: the ICE models will be considered the “top” versions, positioned above the purely electric cars. A new report makes things even murkier. The next-generation Boxster and Cayman with gas power may be electrified as well. Autocar claims the ICE 718s will adopt a hybrid setup pioneered…
Tesla’s US EV sales received a temporary boost as the $7,500 federal tax credit nears expiration. The gap between Tesla and BYD’s BEV sales narrowed to the smallest in the past four quarters. Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) achieved record quarterly deliveries as US consumers accelerated purchases of electric vehicles (EVs) ahead of the federal tax credit expiration, following a weak start to the year. The US EV maker delivered a record 497,099 vehicles globally in the third quarter, surpassing Wall Street’s forecast of 439,612 units, according to data released today. The quarterly deliveries rose 7.39 percent year-on-year and surged 29.41 percent…
