- The X9 EREV’s final starting price is RMB 309,800 ($43,550), significantly lower than its pre-sales price and the X9 BEV, signaling Xpeng‘s ambitions in the EREV market.
- Xpeng will offer seven models with dual powertrain options next year, substantially expanding its market reach.

Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV, HKG: 9868) today officially launched its extended-range X9 MPV (multi-purpose vehicle), aiming to capture market share in the hybrid MPV segment with competitive pricing.
The final starting price for the X9 extended-range electric vehicle (EREV) is RMB 309,800 ($43,550), representing a reduction of RMB 40,200, or 11.49 percent, from the RMB 350,000 starting price announced during its pre-sales earlier this month.
This is also significantly lower than the RMB 359,800 starting price for the MPV’s battery electric vehicle (BEV) counterpart, signaling the company’s ambitions for its first EREV model.
Specifically, the X9 EREV comes in two variants — the 1602 Max and 1602 Ultra — with starting prices of RMB 309,800 and RMB 329,800 respectively. The 1602 Ultra variant had a pre-sales starting price of RMB 370,000.
The X9 EREV is Xpeng’s first model equipped with the Kunpeng Super Electric System. The company will next roll out the EREV variants for its G7 SUV, G6 SUV, and P7+ sedan, previous regulatory filings showed.

Xpeng plans to launch three EREV models in the first quarter 2026 and introduce four all-new models throughout 2026, offering both BEV and EREV variants, the company’s management said during an earnings call on November 17.
Xpeng will have seven models with dual powertrain options next year, significantly expanding its market reach and driving substantial sales growth, it said.
The X9 EREV measures 5,316 mm in length, 1,988 mm in width, and 1,785 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3,160 mm. It is longer than the all-electric X9 BEV’s 5,293 mm length, while other dimensions remain identical.
The model features a 63.3-kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack from CALB, delivering a CLTC range of 452 kilometers. This makes it one of the longest-range EREVs currently available in the Chinese market.

Xpeng aims for the vehicle to operate solely on electricity in 90 percent of scenarios without activating the range extender by offering a high-capacity battery pack.
It features a 60-liter fuel tank, achieving a combined range of 1,602 kilometers when both fuel and battery are fully replenished.
Built on an 800-volt high-voltage architecture, the model supports 5C charging rates, enabling a 313-kilometer range in just 10 minutes of charge.
The X9 EREV features a 1.5T engine as its range extender, achieving a maximum power generation efficiency of 3.6 Wh/L.
It is a single-motor rear-wheel-drive model, with the motor delivering a peak power of 210 kW (281 horsepower) and peak torque of 465 Nm, accelerating from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 8 seconds.
The lower-priced Max variant features one Turing AI chip with 750 TOPS computing power developed by Xpeng in-house. The higher-priced Ultra variant incorporates three Turing AI chips, delivering a combined 2250 TOPS.
Its cockpit chip is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8295P, currently the mainstream choice for premium EV models.

The X9 EREV marks Xpeng’s first entry into the EREV segment, though it’s worth noting this market is experiencing a downward trend.
In October, China’s EREV retail sales came in at 109,000 units, down 6.84 percent year-on-year, marking the fourth consecutive month of decline, according to data compiled by CnEVPost from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).
From January to October, EREV retail sales totaled 950,000 units, up 3.60 percent year-on-year.
By comparison, BEV retail sales in October reached 812,000 units, surging 63.34 percent year-on-year. From January to October, BEV retail sales hit 6.25 million units, growing 30.08 percent year-on-year.
For Xpeng, the X9 EREV also represents its new exploration into higher-priced markets.
From January to October, the company delivered 355,209 vehicles, a year-on-year increase of 190.02 percent.
However, the Mona M03 electric sedan, with a starting price of just RMB 119,800, contributed 41.78 percent of Xpeng’s deliveries during the same period with 148,413 units delivered.
With more than a year having passed since the Mona M03’s August 2024 launch, Xpeng now requires new growth drivers to sustain its strong momentum.
