Xiaomi SU7 comes with two battery pack options of 73.6 kWh and 101 kWh capacity, capable of delivering up to 668 kilometers and 800 kilometers of range, respectively, a latest regulatory filing has revealed.

Chinese smartphone giant Xiaomi’s first electric vehicle (EV) model, the SU7, will have a CLTC range of up to 800 kilometers, a latest regulatory filing showed.

The Xiaomi SU7’s battery pack comes in two capacities, 73.6 kWh and 101 kWh, according to the latest catalog of new energy vehicle (NEV) models exempted from vehicle purchase tax, published on December 12 by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

The 73.6-kWh battery pack weighs 579 kilograms, implying an energy density of around 127 Wh/kg, and the Xiaomi SU7 equipped with this pack has two CLTC range options of 628 kilometers and 668 kilometers.

The 101-kWh battery pack weighs 645.8 kg, implying an energy density of around 156 Wh/kg and offers 750 km, and 800 km range options.

The information in the model’s catalog doesn’t mention the suppliers of the two battery packs, but according to a previous regulatory filing, the 73.6 kWh pack should be supplied by BYD, while the 101 kWh pack comes from CATL.

Xiaomi’s first EV model will include three main options — SU7, SU7 Pro, and SU7 Max — with the SU7 powered by lithium iron phosphate batteries supplied by BYD’s battery division FinDreams and featuring a single electric motor, according to a November 15 regulatory filing.

The SU7 Pro and SU7 Max, on the other hand, are powered by CATL-supplied lithium ternary-ion batteries and both have dual motors.

The Xiaomi model is a mid-to-large-sized sedan with length, width and height of 4,997 mm, 1,963 mm, 1,440/1,455 mm and a wheelbase of 3,000 mm.

That size is larger than both Tesla‘s (NASDAQ: TSLA) Model 3 sedan and Nio‘s (NYSE: NIO) ET5.

The updated Model 3 currently sold in China measures 4,720 mm in length, 1,848 mm in width and 1,442 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,875 mm, while the regular ET5 measures 4,790 mm in length, 1,960 mm in width and 1,499 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,888 mm.

Entering the vehicle purchase tax exemption catalog means that the Xiaomi SU7 is not far away from its official launch.

Rumors recently suggested that Xiaomi would hold the launch event for the SU7 on December 28. This was however subsequently denied, but company sources admitted to considering the date, according to some local automotive media.

With the first model yet to be officially launched, Xiaomi has reportedly planned two additional models.

Xiaomi’s first model, internally codenamed Modenat, will be officially launched next year, local media outlet AutoPix reported on December 4, adding that Xiaomi’s second model is internally codenamed Lemang, and the third is the Kunlun.

The Lemang model will be a battery electric vehicle (BEV) model like the Modenat, while the Kunlun model will be a hybrid, the report said.
