Nio (NYSE: NIO) brought the number of battery swap stations along highways in China to 600, with the overall number of such facilities approaching 2,000.

The 600 stations along highways cover 482 highway service areas and 118 highway entrances, the company said today.

The battery swap stations are located in 26 provinces in China, connecting 211 cities.

Nio’s network of battery swap stations along highways already covers six longitudinal highways, four horizontal highways, and eight large urban clusters in China.

By 2025, Nio’s battery swap network will cover nine vertical highways, nine horizontal highways, and 19 urban clusters, according to its previously announced plans.

Nio aims to see the number of its battery swap stations in China reach 2,300 by the end of this year, with 1,000 of those added this year.

The company added 15 battery swap stations today, bringing the total number of the facility in China to 1,998.

So far this month, Nio has added 69 battery swap stations in China.

The company also put 10 supercharging stations into operation today, bringing the total to 1,865, offering 8,858 charging piles.

It put 1 new destination charging station into operation today, bringing the total to 1,415 with 10,234 charging piles.

Nio’s charging map in China has access to 943,314 third-party charging piles, according to its latest data.

About 77 percent of Nio owners can find at least one battery swap station within 3 kilometers of their home, with 12 cities exceeding 80 percent.

Nio may acquire assets JAC plans to sell and seek its own EV production qualification, report says
