China’s new energy vehicle (NEV) retail sales performance was weak last week, dragging down this month’s performance.
From July 1 to 20, China’s passenger NEV retail sales came in at 537,000 units, up 23 percent year-on-year, but down 12 percent month-on-month, according to data released today by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).
For reference, from July 1 to 13, China’s passenger NEV retail sales were 332,000 units, up 26 percent year-on-year, though down 4 percent from the same period last month.
So far this year, China’s cumulative passenger NEV retail sales were 6.006 million units, up 32 percent year-on-year.
Wholesale sales of passenger NEVs from July 1 to 20 were 514,000 units, up 25 percent year-on-year, but down 12 percent month-on-month, according to the CPCA.
So far this year, cumulative wholesale sales of passenger NEVs have reached 6.962 million units, up 36 percent year-on-year.
From July 1 to 20, China’s total retail sales of passenger vehicles totaled 978,000 units, up 11 percent year-on-year, but down 12 percent compared to the same period last month.
So far this year, China’s cumulative retail sales of passenger vehicles reached 11.88 million units, up 11 percent year-on-year.
This means that the penetration rate of NEVs in retail sales was 54.9 percent from July 1 to 20, and 50.56 percent year-to-date.
In the first week of July, July 1-6, the average daily retail sales of passenger vehicles in China were 39,660, up 1 percent year-on-year, but down 6 percent compared to the same period last month.
In the second week of July, July 7-13, the average daily retail sales of passenger vehicles in China were 47,548, up 11 percent year-on-year, but down 4 percent compared to the same period last month.
In the third week of July, July 14-20, the average daily retail sales of passenger vehicles in China were 58,207, up 17 percent year-on-year, but down 20 percent compared to the same period last month.
From July 1 to 20, China’s wholesale sales of all passenger cars were 960,000, up 22 percent year-on-year, but down 12 percent from the same period last month.
From July 1 to 6, China’s average daily wholesale sales of passenger cars were 38,757, up 39 percent year-on-year and flat from the same period last month.
From July 7 to 13, China’s daily average wholesale sales of passenger vehicles were 46,085, up 31 percent year-on-year, but down 12 percent from the same period last month.
From July 14 to 20, China’s daily average wholesale sales of passenger vehicles were 57,826, up 8 percent year-on-year, but down 17 percent from the same period last month.
So far this year, China’s passenger car wholesale sales reached 14.24 million units, up 13 percent year-on-year.
