Yesterday, Rivian announced new entry-level R1S and R1T models with a Standard battery pack, as well as an all-new Standard+ battery pack option. The Standard battery has a capacity of 106 kilowatt-hour (compared to 105 kWh initially expected), while the Standard+ battery has 121 kWh. In December, global registrations of plug-in electric cars reached another all-time record, although the growth rate barely outpaced the overall car market. According to EV-Volumes data, shared by researcher Jose Pontes, 1,556,728 new passenger plug-in electric cars were registered globally in December (about 23% more than a year ago). Electrify America on Wednesday unveiled its first indoor charging station, which the charging network says will serve as a template for future sites in urban areas. Located in San Francisco’s South Market neighborhood, two blocks from the Bay Bridge, the new “flagship” site has 20 chargers providing up to 350 kw of power, according to an Electrify America press release.
