The warning signs appeared last year when Shell scrapped its plans to build 48 hydrogen refueling stations for light duty vehicles in California. In September, Shell closed three of its five hydrogen stations in the state. “We can confirm that Shell has discontinued its plan to build and operate additional light-duty vehicle fueling stations in California,”…

A planned vote on new EU climate targets for trucks is up in the air today after the German Transport Ministry, led by the FDP, backtracked on its support for the legislation. EU ambassadors were set to rubber-stamp a deal on the legislation today. But the FDP unilaterally threatened to withdraw German support without consultation with its coalition partners or the Chancellery. “We must ensure that Europe remains…

Can the Tesla Cybertruck power a travel trailer for off-grid camping? Let’s put it to the test to find out if Tesla’s truck can power an RV. The Cybertruck features a 240-volt NEMA 14-50 outlet in the truck bed. This type of outlet is rated for 50 amps, but the typical output is closer to 40 amps. Most travel trailers use a 30-amp service (NEMA TT-30R receptacle and the plug is TT-30P). Some larger RVs do utilize a NEMA 14-50. So, typically, you’d need a NEMA 14-50 to TT-30 adapter to plug your travel trailer into the Cybertruck. The Cybertruck…
Shell Hydrogen will permanently close all seven of its California pumping stations immediately, the company confirmed this week. It will no longer operate light-duty hydrogen stations in the U.S., and represents another blow to the struggling hydrogen car market in the only state where the fuel is widely available at all. The outlet Hydrogen Insight first reported the news on Thursday. Shell had, until recently, operated seven of the 55 total retail hydrogen stations in California, per the Hydrogen Fuel Cell Partnership (H2FCP). That makes this a blow, but not apocalyptic news for the (small) hydrogen community. Get Fully Charged Hydrogen…

The network, which previously called itself out under the banner of “We Charge North America,” revealed its name Friday, along with a confirmation that it has received regulatory approval and is officially starting up. Led by Seth Cutler, formerly of EV Connect and GE, Ionna aims…
