Hyundai IONIQ 5 (Source: Hyundai) South Korea’s government looks to give domestic automakers Hyundai and Kia a break with its new EV policy. Targeting Tesla, BYD, and cheaper EV batteries The revised EV policy is Korea’s attempt to give domestic automakers an edge as they look to level the playing field. “Tesla dropping prices last year, coupled with the rise of BYD, kicked off a price war in the global EV market,” Yang Jin-Soo, who leads Hyundai’s…

Earlier this month, Rivian announced that its highly anticipated R2 model, potentially a mid-size SUV or crossover, was set to be unveiled on March 7, 2024. Leading up to the unveiling event next month at the Laguna Beach showroom in Orange County, California, Rivian is stoking enthusiasts’ curiosity with the release of the R2’s first official teaser. There are no big surprises here. Much of the teaser showcases people expressing joy in various forms, and at the end of it, there’s a Rivian parked in a dark and shadowy garage. Then the front LED light bar of the baby Rivian…

The Rivian R2 lineup is due to debut March 7.  The California-based electric truck maker has revealed very little about the R2 as of yet, other than that it will be smaller and lower-priced than the existing R1 lineup—and, from an early tease above, that it will keep the original R1 lineup’s distinctive front lightbar and vertical-oval headlamps, which had been a polarizing look albeit a fan favorite.  While the R1T pickup and R1S SUV are full-size trucks—or within a few inches of full-size, by any American assessment—the R2 lineup is expected to cover a middle ground that would also…

With its second all-electric model hitting the market this year, Lucid Motors wants to ensure consumers don’t forget about its flagship sedan – the Air. Having just launched its 2024 Air models a couple of months ago, slashing prices, Lucid has lowered its MSRPs once again, incentivizing potential customers with additional charging and maintenance bonuses as well. Lucid Motors ($LCID) looks to bounce back in 2024 following a Q4 2023 report that detailed a drop in YOY deliveries. The Air sedan has fared decently, but Lucid was still left sitting with a surplus of EV inventory, provoking demand levers like…

While the 2023 Lucid Air Pure…

Stellantis on Wednesday unveiled the redesigned Lancia Ypsilon hatchback—the historic Italian brand’s first EV. This marks the beginning of a revival of Lancia, which has produced classics like the Aurelia, Fulvia, Stratos, and Delta Integrale, but has been largely ignored by Stellantis and predecessor Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA). The current internal-combustion Ypsilon is Lancia’s only model, and first went on sale in 2011. The new Ypsilon, which is due to start sales in Europe this May but unlikely to reach the U.S., will be sold as both an EV and a mild hybrid. But Lancia will only launch all-electric vehicles…
