A video shared by Nio shows the ET9 letting the thick snow covering its body fall through significant body shaking. (Image credit: Nio) Nio (NYSE: NIO) has demonstrated the capabilities of its executive flagship sedan ET9’s SkyRide chassis system in a new video, as China marks the first working day after the Lunar New Year holiday. At the start of the new year, the ET9 came out into the snow and ice to kick off winter testing, Nio said in a post on its WeChat account today. A video shared by Nio shows the ET9, covered in thick snow, demonstrating…

The Ford F-150 Lightning had a surge of sales at the end of 2023, but I have to admit that its production and sales are not ramping up as quickly as I’d hoped. It seems American pickup truck consumers still need some more time to get accustomed to plugin their trucks in at home rather than taking them to a gas station to get robbed. As you can see above, the F-150 Lightning had just a little more than 24,000 sales in the US…

In recent years, the American car market has been pushed toward becoming a significantly more electric one by the Biden Administration’s strict Environmental Protection Agency rules. Those car tailpipe emission rules are so strict that they could result in two-thirds of all new cars having emissions at all by 2032. But now, after months of pressure from automakers, dealers, labor unions and the other side of the political aisle, the White House may ease up on that plan—a move that will sure to draw the ire of EV proponents and anyone sounding the alarm over global warming. This report comes…

Demand for new buses, coaches and minibuses reaches highest level since the pandemic with 4,932 new units entering service in 2023. Market up 44.6% on previous year but remains -16.0% down on 2019. Sector leads UK’s Net Zero journey as Europe’s biggest zero emission bus market, with 45.1% of new single and double deckers electric or hydrogen, but licensing issues hold back minibus transition. Anglo American Platinum is the world’s leading primary producer of Platinum Group Metals (PGMs). Platinum is used in a variety of applications, including auto catalytic converters, fuel cells, air and water purification units, heart pacemakers, computer screens, hard disks, and fertilizers. New York City is undergoing somewhat of a rideshare revolution. In a span of a few months, the number of battery-electric rideshare vehicles on the city’s streets has quintupled. About a year ago, city dwellers were riding in about 2,000 electric Uber and Lyft cars, but now that number has soared to over 10,000 BEVs, InsideEVs learned through Revel and verified through NYC Open Data. Almost 10% percent of the total fleet, including the Uber and Lyft cars, is now electric. Hybrids comprise 14% of the fleet, while the rest are gas cars. This influx of thousands of additional cars…
Equinox EV details, Lucid Air price cut, Kia hybrid minivan, EV9 markups: The Week in Reverse
Which automaker revealed a far-out concept EV but skipped the auto show? And when did Republicans turn against EVs? This is our look back at the Week In Reverse—right here at Green Car Reports—for the week ending February 16, 2024. The 2024 Chevy Equinox EV will qualify for the $7,500 EV tax credit and remains due to start at $34,995 with a 319-mile range, GM confirmed at the start of the week. But that entry model won’t arrive first; a “well-contented” 2RS model will lead the lineup, which appeared to get a price cut for top trims. And dual-motor AWD…
There are precious few things that car drivers and cyclists can agree upon when it comes to cities, but one universal concept seems to be the hatred of massive box trucks clogging up streets and bike lanes. Could this miniature version of a box truck built on a golf cart frame be the answer? I found it while dumpster-diving through the strange vehicle heaven that this is Alibaba’s electric car catalog. And boy, oh boy, does it make a great inclusion as this week’s Awesomely Weird Alibaba Electric Vehicle of the Week? Box trucks are normally mammoth things taking up…

After the subsidies-derived sales rush of December, Germany’s plugin vehicle (PEV) market was bound to have a hangover month in January. And it did, by scoring some 37,000 registrations. While that is a 40%-plus increase over the January 2023 result, it is important to remember that a year ago, the German EV market was experiencing another hangover month, related to the end of PHEV subsidies in December 2022. So, comparing January 2024 with January 2022, this year there was a 9% drop. So, one…
