Sony Honda Mobility is planning an electric SUV and affordable compact car in addition to its previously shown sedan, according to a new Nikkei Asia report. The SUV will launch in 2027, followed by the compact car in 2028, the report said. Sony and Honda announced in 2022 that the sedan will be unveiled in 2025 under the Afeela brand name, with pre-orders starting then. U.S. deliveries are scheduled to start in 2026, and Nikkei Asia now reports a targeted base price equivalent to $66,400. The SUV and compact will also reportedly be sold in the U.S., with all three…

As of Thursday morning, the starting price of the 2024 Lucid Air Pure is just $71,400, reflecting a price cut of $7,500 and significantly undercutting the most affordable current version of the Tesla Model S for those who don’t require all-wheel drive.  Meanwhile, mid-range Lucid Air Touring models have been cut $8,000, to $79,400, and high-end 2024 Air Grand Touring versions, at $111,400, now start $1,000 lower than their posted cost prior to the price drop.  The entry price for those seeking all-wheel drive is lower, too, in what amounts to a better-equipped car. While the 2023 Lucid Air Pure…

With its second all-electric model hitting the market this year, Lucid Motors wants to ensure consumers don’t forget about its flagship sedan – the Air. Having just launched its 2024 Air models a couple of months ago, slashing prices, Lucid has lowered its MSRPs once again, incentivizing potential customers with additional charging and maintenance bonuses as well. Lucid Motors ($LCID) looks to bounce back in 2024 following a Q4 2023 report that detailed a drop in YOY deliveries. The Air sedan has fared decently, but Lucid was still left sitting with a surplus of EV inventory, provoking demand levers like…

Stellantis on Wednesday unveiled the redesigned Lancia Ypsilon hatchback—the historic Italian brand’s first EV. This marks the beginning of a revival of Lancia, which has produced classics like the Aurelia, Fulvia, Stratos, and Delta Integrale, but has been largely ignored by Stellantis and predecessor Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA). The current internal-combustion Ypsilon is Lancia’s only model, and first went on sale in 2011. The new Ypsilon, which is due to start sales in Europe this May but unlikely to reach the U.S., will be sold as both an EV and a mild hybrid. But Lancia will only launch all-electric vehicles…

We never thought this day would ever come again, but here is a new Lancia. Stellantis has pledged to keep all 14 (fourteen!) brands in its vast portfolio following the FCA-PSA merger. That means the Italian marque is getting a new chance to repair its severely damaged brand image. The 2024 Ypsilon kicks off a long overdue rebirth. It is also Lancia’s first-ever EV, although mild-hybrid versions with gasoline engines will follow. The subcompact hatchback uses the same CMP / eCMP bones as the Peugeot 208 / e-208 but with entirely different styling inside and out. Some of the design…
