CATL’s net profit fell 4.3 percent in the third quarter from the second quarter, as its share in China slipped and fell in September to a new low since April last year. https://img.cnevpost.com/2023/10/19232514/2023101915251468.mp3 CATL, China’s largest power battery maker, saw its third-quarter net profit slump from the second quarter, as it continued to lose share in its home market. CATL posted revenue of RMB 105.43 billion ($14.4 billion) in the third quarter, up 8.3 percent from a year earlier and up 5.2 percent from the previous quarter, according to its financial report released today. The company reported net profit of…
Gravity Inc., best known for its fleet of Mustang Mach E electric taxis in New York City, has announced a brand-new ultra-high output DC charger designed especially for the challenging ergonomics of urban parking garages. The 500kW “DEAP” (Distributed Energy Access Point) is just 8″ thick and 18″ tall (curiously, width isn’t mentioned, but eyeballing, it looks to be about three feet across) — which sounds too good to be true. But as you may have guessed already, Gravity has achieved this by separating the charge endpoint from the power box that actually supplies the necessary energy to charge your…
While Tesla continues to post industry-leading loyalty numbers, there are now some indications that households are less loyal to EVs from other brands, according to a new study from S&P Global Mobility. “Nearly half of those non-Tesla EV households that have acquired a new electric vehicle still purchase an internal combustion vehicle the next time around,” according to the study. However, that could be as much a reflection of the non-Tesla EV brands as it is on EVs themselves. Excluding Tesla, 52.1% of EV households stayed loyal to EVs this year through July, the study found. That means they stuck…
Tesla’s so-called Full Self-Driving (FSD) driving assistant system has been at the center of several legal battles and it’s frequently cited by enthusiasts as a feature that sets the maker of the Model Y and its siblings apart from all the other EV manufacturers out there. With this being said, the very costly option (it’s now priced at $12,000 if one were to purchase it outright, down from a previous $15,000) is still considered a Level 2 system on SAE’s Levels of Driving Automation table, even though Elon Musk touted its future ability to make past and present Tesla vehicles…
A Detroit-based startup wants to turn General Motors electric vans into RVs. Called Grounded, the startup on Wednesday announced the G2, an RV based on the GM BrightDrop Zevo 600 van. Grounded claims deliveries will start later this month. The dual-motor all-wheel-drive G2 is a follow-up to the Grounded G1 launched earlier this year. But where that model had a 100-mile range, Grounded promises up to 250 miles of range from the G2, courtesy of the same 165-kwh battery pack used in the Zevo 600 donor vehicle. An additional 10-kwh “house battery” for lighting and appliances can be charged by…
