Tesla, the world’s largest all-electric car manufacturer, once again increased its potential annual manufacturing output, recently exceeding 2,350,000 units, according to Q3 financial report. That’s an increase of 325,000 compared to the previous report (Q2 2023). The year-over-year increase amounted to roughly 450,000. This time, the change is associated with the Giga Shanghai plant, where the installed capacity increased by 200,000 (from over 750,000 to over 950,000 per year), and with the Giga Texas plant, where the Tesla Cybertruck’s installed capacity was estimated at over 125,000 units per year. Of course, the installed manufacturing capacity and the actual production volume…

Sign up for daily news updates from CleanTechnica on email. Or follow us on Google News! Almost two years ago I published my first hydrogen decade-by-decade demand projection through 2100. My projection has changed over time, most recently with my assessment of iron and steel demand through 2100, but I hadn’t republished it formally for a while. And now it’s time to do that. Hydrogen demand through 2100, chart by Michael Barnard, Chief Strategist, TFIE Strategy Inc The trigger for this was Michael Liebreich publishing his first update to his useful hydrogen ladder in two years, version 5.0. I recommend…

Back in August, German bike brand Propain unleashed the Ekano 2 AL electric mountain bike. The aluminum-framed all-mountain/enduro e-bike impressed with its long-travel suspension and upmarket componentry, however, it seems that Propain has outdone itself with the launch of the Ekano 2 CF. As the name suggests, it ditches the aluminum frame for a lighter carbon one, and also packs a few changes beneath the surface. To start with, the Propain Ekano 2 CF is marketed as a performance-focused electric mountain bike for use on both trails and bike parks. It holds an ASTM Category 5 classification which means it’s…

Toyota revealed Monday that at the Tokyo auto show this week it will debut a fully electric Land Cruiser Se concept that could be a template for remaking the rugged off-road legend for the electric era.  The concept has three rows to seat up to seven, and it’s truly American-sized, at nearly 203 inches long, about 78 inches wide, and 67 inches high. That’s about seven inches longer but about nine inches lower overall than the current/upcoming truck. It also rides on a 120-inch wheelbase—about eight inches longer than that of the current model.  Based on a first images, the…

A Tesla Cybertruck couldn’t charge at a Supercharger station in the Mojave desert and had to be towed, but it gave us a half-decent size comparison with Ford F-150 Raptor. Tesla currently has a large fleet of Cybertruck prototypes undergoing testing in the wild ahead of the start of deliveries at the end of next month. As expected in any vehicle testing program, some of those vehicles break down. It has given us opportunities to get a closer look at the electric pickup truck at times, like a first look at Cybertruck’s suspension. Now a Cybertruck Owner’s Club member, CHC,…

Tesla has seen a sharp decline in recalls so far this year compared to 2022, according to a recent article by Barron’s (via Not A Tesla App). Tesla recalled a total of 3.8 million vehicles in 2022, but only about 439,000 in 2023 so far, with the sharp decline suggesting a significant improvement in Tesla’s quality control and production standards. The steep reduction in recalls also suggests that Tesla has kept the promise made at its Investor Day 2023 to enhance quality control and production standards. If Tesla’s recalls continue at the same pace, the automaker is projected to hit…

California-based startup Pebble is the latest to offer an electric travel trailer that uses battery power to assist a tow vehicle, potentially reducing the range loss of an electric tow vehicle. Debuting at the 2023 Los Angeles auto show next month, the Pebble Flow features a 45-kwh LFP battery pack and self-propulsion “providing just the right amount of power to assist the tow vehicle” as a hedge against range anxiety, according to a Pebble press release. So while the Flow still requires a vehicle with a 6,200-lb towing capacity, it’s designed to reduce range loss while towing—which can be substantial.…
