Ram has confirmed first details for a pickup that no other automaker has dared yet build, yet one that might possibly offer the best of both worlds: a plug-in series-hybrid truck. The truck, which Ram calls the Ramcharger, is claimed to offer “class-shattering unlimited battery electric range.” The Ramcharger always has electric propulsion at the wheels, but it’s backed up with electricity from an internal combustion engine. Ram is claiming a 4.4-second 0-60 mph time for the 1500 Ramcharger, which will be rated at 663 hp and 615 lb-ft of torque. With a 92-kwh battery pack, the Ramcharger will go…
The all-new 2025 Ram 2025 full-size pickup truck is here (at least in official photos – more on this in a bit), and it will be available in multiple versions, including gasoline- and battery-powered. We’ll leave the full-on gas-guzzling variants for our colleagues at Motor1.com to cover. Still, we’re not too far from the tailpipe emissions here at InsideEVs either, because Stellantis – which owns Ram – decided to set itself apart from the rest of the industry and offer an extended-range electric vehicle, or EREV, in the form of the 2025 Ram 1500 Ramcharger. A full-electric version dubbed the…
The Biden administration just announced $16.4 billion to upgrade the Northeast Corridor’s rail infrastructure – here’s why that’s going to impact a lot of people. The Biden administration’s Infrastructure Law, which passed in November 2021, earmarked $66 billion for rail investment – the most significant (and well overdue) investment in passenger rail since Amtrak was created in 1971. The $16.4 billion isn’t more money being spent; it’s coming out of the Infrastructure Law budget. And it’s going to pay for 25 passenger rail projects on Amtrak’s Northeast Corridor. The investments announced today will rebuild 12 tunnels and bridges that are…
Lucid has just announced the adoption of the Tesla-developed North American Charging Standard (NACS) charging standard in its electric cars. The company will begin the switch from its current CCS1 charging inlet to the NACS inlet in North America in 2025. This is when Lucid will integrate NACS into its new vehicles and introduce an adapter so the existing CCS1-compatible cars will be able to use the NACS charging infrastructure as well. As a result, all new and older Lucid electric cars will gain access to the Tesla Supercharging network of more than 15,000 stalls across North America, the company…

Connected, automated vehicle traveling through time-controlled, integrated traffic lights maximized energy efficiency Oak Ridge National Laboratory researchers determined that a connected and automated vehicle, or CAV, traveling on a multilane highway with integrated traffic light timing control can maximize energy efficiency and achieve up to 27% savings. In a demonstration, a plug-in hybrid passenger vehicle in electric mode was driven down a busy corridor in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The test vehicle and the timing of traffic lights along the longitudinal route were controlled by ORNL-developed…
If I were to ask you your thoughts about e-bikes, chances are I’d get a bunch of mixed reactions. On the one hand, a lot of people are extremely optimistic about the future of mobility, and see electric bikes and other personal mobility devices as essential in paving the way forward. On the other hand, there are skeptics who question the very essence of e-bikes, labeling them as pointless, gimmicky, and more of a problem than the solution. Nevertheless, the numbers don’t lie, and it’s foreseen that the e-bike business will balloon into a $120 billion industry by 2030. Indeed,…
Sign up for daily news updates from CleanTechnica on email. Or follow us on Google News! Nuclear energy has had some successful scalings in the past, but seems incapable of it today. A big part of it is that the tenets of free market capitalism cause it to fall over. The same is true for small modular reactors. As people who like nuclear tend to be politically conservative and hence much more likely to be free market ideologues, the cognitive dissonance must require a jar of Ibuprofen a week. Let’s explore why. First of all, nuclear is completely fine as…
