(Image credit: CnEVPost) After Changan Automobile and Geely Holding, Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group (JAC) may also join Nio’s (NYSE: NIO) battery swap system, local media Cailian said in a report today. On November 21, Nio signed a battery swap business cooperation agreement with Changan, which will see the two companies collaborate on battery…

The automaker on Tuesday unveiled fast-charging hardware it claims to have developed in-house, including a liquid-cooled DC charger capable of up to 450 kw. With this setup, Lotus claims the charger can add 88.5 miles of range to its Eletre electric SUV in just five minutes of charging at 450 kw, accomplishing a 10-80% charge in 20 minutes. It can also…

If I asked someone to tell me they don’t understand the NEVI program without saying they don’t understand the NEVI program, this post at National Review Online would be a very good answer. Entitled “How Long Does It Take the Federal Government to Build One Electric-Vehicle Charger?”, the piece entertains the blog’s audience with a tale that seems to prove that the Biden Administration is too stupid to build stuff fast. But, to believe this, you’d have to not only not understand how government…

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 N is a very impressive machine with cyberpunk looks, supercar-grade acceleration, and enough tricks to make your track-day pals believe in the power of electricity. Of course, Of course, it likely isn’t going to be cheap nor likely easy to source at launch. The case against buying an Ioniq 5 N comes from its Korean cousin that offers most of the go-fast goodies at a much lower market price. The Hyundai Ioniq N is not scheduled to hit showrooms until March, so pricing hasn’t been released yet. However, since the top-spec Ioniq 5 Limited retails for…
As Ford reels from a year marked with all sorts of setbacks to its electric vehicle dreams, it’s now also looking for ways to offer its dealers some relief too. That includes ways to keep its EVs from piling up on car lots—something that has caused plenty of headaches on the sales front. Ford is planning to set up so-called “retail replenishment centers” that will help its dealers reduce the inventory they’re required to carry and therefore their costs, according to Automotive News, which discovered the plans. Ford spokesperson Martin Günsberg elaborated to InsideEVs that upper-tier Certified Elite dealers will restore some…
Markups are an ongoing hell for the auto industry. They’re partly to blame for inflation and are actively keeping enthusiasts from buying some of what are likely the last-hurrah combustion cars to hit the market. Unsurprisingly, new electric cars are also falling victim to markup hell including the GMC Hummer EV. It would appear that the inferno may finally be coming to an end. See, the Hummer EV community has been absolutely fed up with markups. Facebook groups, forums, and Reddit have all turned from buyers looking to spend top dollar to chastising resellers for asking a penny more than…

Last week, the Biden administration finalized a new rule requiring states to track greenhouse gas emissions from vehicles, despite opposition from “red” states, and road, and bridge builders. The new rule, which generated nearly 40,000 comments on Freightwaves when it was formally proposed, requires each state’s DOT to establish declining carbon emissions targets using fuel sales, fuel efficiency, and vehicle-miles-traveled data, and report back their progress to the feds. The Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) established 2022 as the reference year against which results and…
