Anhui Jianghuai Automobile Group (JAC) and Chinese tech giant Huawei signed a new deal after their first joint model recently hit the market.

The two companies signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Hefei, Anhui province, where JAC is headquartered, to deepen their strategic partnership, according to an announcement by the automaker today.

Senior executives from both companies, including JAC chairman and general manager Xiang Xingchu and Huawei rotating chairman Eric Xu, witnessed the signing.

The collaboration will further promote the application of Huawei’s intelligent vehicle solutions on JAC’s vehicle platforms, including areas such as assisted driving, intelligent cockpits, and in-vehicle communication.

The signing of the strategic cooperation agreement marks a new phase of strategic synergy between the two parties, JAC said. It did not disclose details about the latest agreement.

JAC announced on December 1, 2023, that it had signed an agreement with Huawei to jointly develop electric vehicles (EVs).

Last August, Huawei announced that the new brand jointly developed with JAC was named Maextro, targeting the ultra-luxury market.

On May 30, the first model of Maextro, the Maextro S800, was officially launched with a starting price of RMB 708,000 ($98,570).

The model is the latest luxury sedan in the Chinese market, joining Nio’s (NYSE: NIO) ET9 and BYD sub-brand Yangwang’s U7 in expanding the market dominated by German luxury brands.

Within 72 hours of its launch, the Maextro S800 secured over 2,600 firm orders, according to an announcement by Huawei’s HIMA (Harmony Intelligent Mobility Alliance) business on its mobile app on June 2.

Earlier today, HIMA announced that the Maextro S800 had secured over 5,000 firm orders within 19 days of its launch.
